Union Council refers to a Union Council, Municipal Committee, Cantonment Board, Union Administration, or any other comparable body established under any law relating to local governments or local authorities in the event that any of these local governments are not present in the local area.
Localities that are a part of cities are referred to by the term Union Council. Typically, a Tehsil includes a Union Council or Village Council (county) territory. Generally, a Union Council is a part of a City District.
Union Council is headed by Union Nazim, the primary institution of the government of Sindh. Union Council has 23 elected councilors. There are two male and two female labour representatives, a minority member, a Union Nazim and his deputy known as the Union Naib Nazim, in addition to the four male and two female members who were directly elected. Each union council has elected members as well as a number of government employees and officials who answer to the union council secretary.
